Successful Opening Race Weekend for CSCC & ICSCC

Cascade Sports Car Club’s Rose City Opener has been run, and “Opener” was a theme!  It was the International Conference of Sports Car Club’s (ICSCC) Championship opening weekend.  It was the Northwest Mini Enduro Championship Series’ opening race which saw over 40 cars.  It was also Cascade’s Nostalgic Series’ opening weekend and finally, it was the Pacific Northwest Spec Miata Tour’s Championship opening weekend which had over 30 Spec Miatas.

There was a great turnout of racers, the stands had some fans, and the weather was perfect!  All of the race groups had nice grids with 25+ PRO3s making up the majority of group 1.  Group 2 was filled with mostly Spec Miatas.  Groups 3/6 had a nice mix with a lot of Caterhams and Formula Mazdas.  Group 4 also had a nice mix with high horsepower cars and a good turnout of another popular BMW class – Spec E46.  Group 5 was yet another group that had a nice mix of cars, mostly low to medium horsepower.  Finally, the opener had a great novice driver turnout.  Numbers that haven’t been reached in quite a few years, which is great!!

Next up for Cascade racing is the Chicane Challenge on Father’s Day weekend – June 13-15.

Cascade’s next big event is its yearly Mountains to the Sea Rally on May 10th.  This year marks the 60th Anniversary!!
