Great Racing at Cascade Sports Car Club’s The Dash

Cascade Sports Car Club’s (CSCC) The Dash annual car race and charity weekend, which took place September 20th and 21st, was a huge success!  Spectators were treated to over 130 entries and a lot of exciting racing on Saturday under beautiful sunny skies.  Sunday started damp but cleared up, and it turned out to be a great day to be out at Portland International Raceway.

What makes this weekend so special is the charity aspect of it.  This year, money was raised for the Community Transitional School in Portland.  It provides at-risk children with a stable educational environment that promotes their academic and personal growth.  Funds are raised throughout the year; however, this weekend, known as the Dash, generates the majority of the money that is raised for charity.  During the weekend, money is raised through car rides, which take place at the noontime hour on both days of the event, where for a donation, riders get two laps around Portland International Raceway in a race car or exotic car.  Seeing the smiles on the faces of the riders when they climb out of the car is so cool.  Knowing that the money raised by giving them rides is going to charity is doubly cool.  In addition to the rides, there was also a gift basket raffle.  Finally, good-hearted individuals and companies donate immensely to the charity.  Donations are still coming in, but it’s looking like close to $20,000 will be donated to the school this year!!  Cascade would like to extend a huge thank you to all who helped make this year’s event a huge success.

With the Dash barely in the rearview mirror, Cascade looks a few weeks ahead to Saturday, October 11th for the 50th running of their annual endurance race.  This event incorporates 2-hour, 4-hour, and 8-hour races into an event that has come to be known as the Cascade Festival of Endurance.  The Le Mans start, where drivers run across pit lane and jump in their cars to start the race, is a sight to see.  The race starts at noon and finishes in the dark.  Admission to this event is Free, so come out to P.I.R and watch some competitive sports car racing before the 2025 racing season comes to a close here in the Pacific Northwest.
