Exciting Weekend of CSCC & ICSCC Racing

Cascade Sports Car Club’s 33rd Chicane Challenge on Father’s Day weekend was packed with a ton of close racing and showcased a wide variety of cars.  From the popular BMW classes of PRO3 and SE46, to Ground Pounders aka Stock Cars, to purpose-built open wheel race cars, and all the way to Vintage classics, this past weekend had it all.

PRO3 had close to 25 cars between the PRO3 class and the several novices driving these E30 BMWs.  There was a good turnout of V8 ground pounders, some of whom were getting ready for the upcoming Rose Cup races next month. Formula Mazda also had a good turnout this weekend with several drivers making the trip up to Portland from California.  Other notable classes with nice car counts were the Caterhams in CC4 and the Super Production classes where modifications are basically unlimited.  Engine swaps like putting a V6 in a Miata are not all that uncommon!  It was a great weekend of racing!

The 64th Annual Rose Cup Races is the next big road racing event at PIR which takes place July 12-13.  For Cascade Sports Car Club, the focus turns to September 20-21 and The Dash, where we race and give back to the community.  Besides another great weekend of racing, we also focus on helping our community.  This is accomplished through fundraising activities like noon time race car rides held both days of the weekend.  Since 1984 the club has raised over a half million dollars for charity and this year we’ll be raising money for the Community Transitional School.  After The Dash, the focus switches to October 11th and Cascade’s 50th Annual Festival of Endurance race which closes out the racing season for Cascade and the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC). The 2, 4, and 8 hours of endurance racing is a great way to finish off the year!
